Solutions Engineer

Virtual Peaker is looking for a Solutions Engineer that will help solve the climate crisis by supporting our mission of building the utility of the future. The intermittent nature of wind and solar energy makes it much harder for electric utilities to keep the grid in balance. Renewable energy is going to save humanity, and Virtual Peaker is part of the solution.


Role Responsibilities

As the Solutions Engineer you will be responsible for supporting Virtual Peaker’s sales team as a technical advisor in helping understand client requirements and how our solution can best meet their needs. You will liaise with our product and engineering teams to ensure that new product features are understood and provide 360 feedback from new and potential clients. Day-to-day, you can expect to:

  • Consult with existing and potential clients to assess and understand software product needs and systems requirements.
  • Demo the product’s functionality to existing and potential clients.
  • Draft or assist with presentations and other documentation and materials that explain products and services to prospective customers.
  • Provide expertise and support to sales and account management teams to communicate products, services, and client needs.
  • Propose improved materials or products to clients and explain benefits of changes.
  • Assist in the drafting of proposals and supporting technical documentation.
  • Be the primary product expert for the sales and account management teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education & Experience

Candidate will ideally have:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, software development, or a related field
  • Two to four years in a role supporting the sale or implementation of software as a service (SaaS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a proven ability to explain technical products to non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to apply engineering, technology, or other related principles to software sales and solving client problems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, or related software.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time

Nice to Have:

  • Experience and / or interest in the energy / utility industry is a plus
  • Familiarity with Hubspot (or related software) and Github (or related software)
